Hehe, due to my deep love for reading, I tend to read on average 2-3 books per month (sometimes even more). Regardless of how busy I am, I will always “squeeze” out some time to read, everyday. I mostly read books directly or indirectly related to my work.
On top of that, I also read lots of self-improvement (self-development) books on how I could do better in life in general - physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, morally and spiritually too.
I like to read books from the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen (and many other wonderful authors) because they are easy reading material, packed full of inspiring stories on the beauty and strengths of people from all over the world. I like to read about how other fellow human beings have managed to overcome obstacles and hardships in life and to eventually triumph and find happiness. I want to know that I am not alone in working hard to better my life and the life of others
Since I first came across the original first book in the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series many years ago and fell in love with it, I have been reading and collecting quite a number of these wonderful books. Among my collection are the 6 editions of the original “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series published between 1993 and 1999:
- Chicken Soup For The Soul - 101 Stories To Open The Heart And Rekindle The Spirit (1993)
- A 2nd Helping of Chicken Soup For The Soul (1995)
- A 3rd Helping of Chicken Soup For The Soul (1996)
- A 4th Helping of Chicken Soup For The Soul (1997)
- A 5th Helping of Chicken Soup For The Soul (1998)
- A 6th Helping of Chicken Soup For The Soul (1999)
On top of those, I have also read:
- Chicken Soup For The Soul At Work (1996)
- Chicken Soup For The Christian Soul (1997)
- Chicken Soup For The Writer’s Soul (2000)
- Chicken Soup For The Jewish Soul (2001)
- Chicken Soup For The Veteran’s Soul (2001)
- Chicken Soup For The Teacher’s Soul (2002)
- Chicken Soup For The Traveller’s Soul (2002)
- Chicken Soup For The Soul - Living Your Dreams (2003)
- Chicken Soup To Inspire The Body & Soul (2003)
- Chicken Soup For The Entrepreneur’s Soul (2006)
And currently, I am in the midst of reading:
- Chicken Soup For The Unsinkable Soul (1999)
- Chicken Soup For The Christian Family Soul (2000)
- Chicken Soup For The Volunteer’s Soul (2002)
- Chicken Soup For The Caregiver’s Soul (2004)
- Chicken Soup For The Recovering Soul (2004)
- Chicken Soup For The Christian Soul 2 (2005)
Hehe, I hope that someday, maybe the kind “souls” (authors) of the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series books, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, might consider publishing these too:
- Chicken Soup For The Buddhist Soul, Daoist Soul, Hindu Soul, etc.
- Chicken Soup For The Malaysia Soul (hehe since there is “Chicken Soup For The Singapore Soul” already)
- Chicken Soup For The Vegetarian’s Soul
- Chicken Soup For The Blogger’s Soul
- Chicken Soup For The Wushu Soul, Taijiquan (Taichichuan) Soul, Martial-Arts Soul, etc.
Eventhough I have enjoyed reading the books in the “Chicken Soup For The Soul” series that I have, but my all-time favourites are “Chicken Soup For The Writer’s Soul” and of course the original 1st edition of the “Chicken Soup For The Soul”.
cheers
hanyi
